When in use, this tool is in contact with rotat-
ing parts.
Your tool includes:
• Digital Touch Tachometer
• (3) Adapters
Do not touch rotating parts. Do not wear
loose clothing when working with rotating
parts. Contain hair, jewelry and any item that
may become entangled in rotating part.

This product is not a toy. Do not allow chil-
dren to play with or near this item.

Before use, the correct Adapter must be
installed.

Before use, install (4) 1.5 VDC “AA” batteries
(not supplied).
To install batteries, remove Screw (18) from
Battery Cover (17).
The Adapters are friction fit. Slide the Adapter
on or off as needed.
Remove Battery Cover (17) from Back Cover
(12).
operatIon
Install 4 “AA” batteries in battery compart-
ment. Be sure to match polarity of batteries
to markings inside battery case.
rpm measurement

Attach the Cone Adapter (24) to the Rotating
Axle (27) as described above.

Replace Battery Cover (17). Reinstall Screw
(18). Do not overtighten.

Set Function Switch to CONTACT.
Whenever the Low Battery Indicator appears,
replace the batteries.
Press the tip of the cone to the center of the
rotating shaft to read shaft RPM. Keep the
Tachometer’s Rotating Axle in line with the
center of the shaft at all times.
Do not short the battery terminals together
when replacing batteries.
Do not dispose of old batteries in fire.
Always dispose of batteries in accordance
with guidelines provided by local authority.
note: This tool may be used with AC power.
Plug adapter (not included) into adapter
Socket and into a 120 VAC outlet.

Press and hold the TEST button.
When the cone gains steady rotational
speed, read the RPM on the LCD screen.
linear speed measurement
1.
Attach the Surface Adapter Wheel (20) to the
Rotating Axle (27) as described above. With
the Rotating Axle parallel with the rotating
shaft, touch the side of the shaft with the side
of Surface Adapter Wheel (20). Maintain light
and steady pressure against the shaft.

Set the Function Switch to FT/MIN (Feet per
minute) or M/MIN (Meter per minute).
Press and hold the TEST button.

Harbor Freight Tools Co. makes every effort to assure that its products meet high quality and dura-
bility standards, and warrants to the original purchaser that this product is free from defects in materials
and workmanship for the period of 90 days from the date of purchase. This warranty does not apply to
damage due directly or indirectly, to misuse, abuse, negligence or accidents, repairs or alterations outside
our facilities, criminal activity, improper installation, normal wear and tear, or to lack of maintenance. We
shall in no event be liable for death, injuries to persons or property, or for incidental, contingent, special
or consequential damages arising from the use of our product. Some states do not allow the exclusion or
limitation of incidental or consequential damages, so the above limitation of exclusion may not apply to
you. THIS WARRANTY IS EXPRESSLY IN LIEU OF ALL OTHER WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IM-
PLIED, INCLUDINg THE WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY AND FITNESS.
To take advantage of this warranty, the product or part must be returned to us with transportation
charges prepaid. Proof of purchase date and an explanation of the complaint must accompany the mer-
chandise. If our inspection verifies the defect, we will either repair or replace the product at our election
or we may elect to refund the purchase price if we cannot readily and quickly provide you with a replace-
ment. We will return repaired products at our expense, but if we determine there is no defect, or that the
defect resulted from causes not within the scope of our warranty, then you must bear the cost of returning
the product.
